New York, NY, December 5, 2023, Sergio Fogel, Co-President and Chief Strategy Officer of dLocal, was named the winner of the Lindas Award by Endeavor in a gala ceremony at The Glasshouse in New York. Award nominees constitute a large field of top-tier founders from across the globe. Notable previous winners include Martin Migoya, CEO of Globant, Mudassir Sheikha, CEO of Careem, and Peter Njonjo, CEO of Twiga.

Endeavor entrepreneurs are nominated by mentors and peers, looking to exemplify the values of their global network: integrity, trust, high-impact ambition, and a commitment to paying it forward by spreading the transformative qualities of entrepreneurship through role modeling, mentorship, and reinvestment.

Sergio Fogel’s selection by the Endeavor board was due to his outsized impact on the Uruguayan and South American tech ecosystems. Nationally, he guided dLocal to become the first tech company to reach unicorn status from Uruguay and helped develop the ecosystem for fellow Uruguayan entrepreneurs with events such as PuntaTech and a series of other initiatives. More broadly, he turned the South American experience of jumping through bureaucratic hoops into an advantage in the complex global payments landscape.

“Sergio's path as a passionate innovator has included his showing relentless leadership in Uruguay and beyond for decades not just by blazing a path of personal success, but also for his unending efforts to help others personally and develop local ecosystems,” said Linda Rottenberg, Co-Founder & CEO at Endeavor. “There were a number of nominators who were personally impacted by his generosity and inspired by his path and it’s that type of leadership that personifies what the Lindas Award is all about.”

“Being able to receive this award from amongst such a deserving field of nominees and to join a list of such impactful and inspirational former winners is truly an honor,” said dLocal’s Sergio Fogel. “There are so many hard-working, talented, and truly visionary people from Uruguay, and from all over Latin America. Creating the conditions for them to help them succeed is just the right thing to do. I am glad that I have the opportunity to play a small part in that and look forward to continuing my efforts.”

About The Lindas:

Named in honor of Linda Rottenberg’s decades of leadership and in recognition of her legendary enthusiasm and passion, The Lindas were launched by myself and the Endeavor Board in 2019 to celebrate those entrepreneurs who are ambassadors of the Endeavor spirit and values.

Each year, Endeavor Entrepreneurs from nearly every market around the world are nominated by mentors, Endeavor staff members, colleagues, and peers, who submit personal testimonials as to the impact the entrepreneur had had on them personally, and their community. Nominators are asked to demonstrate how the Endeavor Entrepreneur has exemplified the values of our global network: integrity, trust, high-impact ambition, a #OneEndeavor mindset, and a commitment to paying it forward by spreading the transformative qualities of entrepreneurship through role modeling, mentorship, and reinvestment. Each of these nominations was reviewed by the Endeavor board, who then selected the award recipients.
